As I sat across from Little G at our lunch, I was struck by the question he asked me: "Have you heard of Shopify? Do you know what Drop Shipping is?" I mean, I was expecting questions like "How's life?" or "What's new?" from a seventh-grader, not business-savvy inquiries. But Little G wasn't your average seventh-grader, he was a curious, driven young man with big dreams and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Our conversation quickly turned to his idea of creating a shoe cleaning kit and selling it to the masses. Little G realized that he had a problem (dirty shoes) and that others probably had the same problem too. So, he decided to find a solution and turn it into a business opportunity.
That's the essence of entrepreneurship, isn't it? Identifying a problem, finding a solution, and executing it. And Little G was already on his way to executing his idea. He was full of enthusiasm and ideas on how to bring his shoe cleaning kit to the market. I couldn't help but feel impressed by his drive and his willingness to learn.
If you're reading this, maybe you're like Little G, with an idea that's been bouncing around in your head. Maybe you're not sure where to start or how to take that first step. But take it from Little G: if you stay curious and stay focused, you can make it happen. You might need help along the way, but that's okay. There are people out there who want to see you succeed and will help you get there.
So go ahead, take that first step. Start researching, start planning, start talking to people who can help. And don't forget, every big business started with a small idea.
